With nearly 10 years of specialized pain management and physical medicine and rehabilitation experience, Ryan Mattie, MD, offers skilled care for acute, chronic, and cancer-related pain. At Total Spine Institute, with offices in Sherman Oaks and Calabasas, California, Dr. Mattie provides the best in advanced technology and modern treatments to help people overcome pain, reclaim function, and enjoy a better quality of life. 

Dr. Mattie offers effective non-surgical care and minimally invasive procedures like image-guided injections, radiofrequency ablation, and neuromodulation. He also uses advanced approaches, such as kyphoplasty, the Vertiflex™ Procedure Superion™ Indirect Decompression System, and the Coflex® Interlaminar Stabilization® device.

Dr. Mattie earned his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine in Florida. He then completed his internship at the University of California in Irvine, and his physical medicine and rehabilitation residency through the Stanford University School of Medicine in California. 

Following his residency, Dr. Mattie completed a fellowship in advanced interventional pain medicine at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine. He’s board certified in pain management and physical medicine and rehabilitation. 

Dr. Mattie has authored several book chapters and is published in more than 40 renowned medical journals. He’s the associate editor for the minimally invasive surgery section of the Interventional Pain Medicine journal. 

Dr. Mattie is also the vice-chair of the Standards Division for the Spine Intervention Society and the co-chair of the research committee for the Pacific Spine and Pain Society.
